Please introduce yourself and tell us about what you do.

Hi! I’m Linney and I’ve been an artist for as long as I can remember. These days, I’m living in LA, I’m the Head Designer at Rails, and I’m a Painter.

Could you explain more about how being a woman has affected your career?

Your mind is your power. I decided at such a young age what I wanted to do with my life that failure was never something I considered. Knowing your worth is everything. If you question your worth, then other people will too. As women, we often have to work harder to prove ourselves. But I think I’m worth fighting for!

Can you name some other female (artist) that inspires you and explain why they do so?

My grandma was an amazing artist. She was the person who really recognized my talent when I was very young. She taught me how to paint and sew and always encouraged me-- even when people told me I was crazy to pursue a career in design! I know that while she was still alive, it made her truly happy to see me chasing my dream.

What has been the most challenging aspect of being a female artist?

I believe that womanhood is a beautiful advantage. For me, focusing on gender inequalities would be an unnecessary distraction. I am who I am. I’m proud of my feminine energy that brings so much inspiration and joy to my work and life.

What would you like people to notice in your artwork?

An easy familiarity. I want my paintings to take you to a happy place. I try not to take myself too seriously when I paint and think that playfulness comes through in my art. I have a circle of strong, smart, sexy, incredible women in my life that inspire my work. I’ve spent most of my life in California near the beach and have an insatiable love for travel which has definitely shaped me as a person and inspires a lot of the colors and leisure themes that I paint.
